Herat activists seek mistakes-free runoff

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok):  Culture lovers and civil society activists in western Herat province on Saturday called for the runoff election on June 14 to be free, fair and transparent.
They made the call at the conclusion of a consultative gathering titled “Elections not Compromise-based System” attended by youth representatives, civil society and culture activists.
Khalil Parsa, a civil society activist, said ballot papers’ shortage had been a major problem during the first round presidential elections on April 5.
He asked the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to avoid mistakes and problems that plagued the first round.
The participants promised they would go to polling stations and cast their votes in the runoff.
They called on the people of Afghanistan to come out and vote in the second round for the sake of their country’s future.
