Paktika women’s affairs director fined

SHARANA (Pajhwok): The women’s affairs director has been fined 35,000 afghanis by Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) officials for using a fake card to monitor the April 5 elections in southeastern Paktika province, an official said on Saturday.
Bibi Hawa, the provincial Women’s Affairs Department head, had served as an election observer during last Saturday’s presidential and provincial council polls by using a fake observer card, IECC head in Paktika, Abdul Majid Malang, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He added Hawa had also misbehaved with a polling centre staff in Sharana, the provincial capital.
Fifteen of the 40 complaints lodged in Paktika had supporting documents, he said, adding most of the objections were about stuffing ballot boxes.
