No election complaint in Takhar so far

TALOQAN (Pajhwok): No election complaint has been registered against any presidential candidate so far in northern Takhar province, local officials said on Monday.
In an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, Independent Election Complaint Commission (IECC) head for Takhar, Barna Salehi, said 13,296 people monitored Saturday’s polls in the province.
Barring objections against two provincial council aspirants, the panel had received no complaint against any presidential contender, he said. Nobody was allowed to commit fraud in the process.
He added the runners and observers were required to register their complaints along with documents with the IECC 48 hours after the polls.  No complaint would be entertained after the stipulated time, he explained.
Meanwhile, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) local head, Roohullah Mosawi, said the vote count process was in progress. The transfer of ballot boxes to Takhar has been ongoing since Sunday.
He added: “We do this in coordination with provincial police headquarters, which assists us in bringing the ballot boxes from districts. We are yet to bring sensitive materials from districts.”
Police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Hanan Qatghani, said security forces had put in place tight measures for transporting electoral materials to the provincial capital.
“Afghan army, police and intelligence personnel are responsible for providing security for election materials and staff. I assure people that we will never let anyone meddle in the process,” he added.
