Ahmadzai sees consensus on end to bloodshed

KABUL (Pajhwok): Hours before an end to the two-month campaign period, thousands of people gathered in support of presidential runner Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai at the Wolesi Jirga tent in Kabul on Wednesday.
Hundreds of members of the “Success Group” -- comprising more than 26 political parties and civil society organisations, promised to vote for Ahmadzai in Saturday’s elections.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahmadzai characterised the mammoth public meeting as a celebration of national unity. "The vote of Afghan is equally important. In this context, there is no difference, either from a religious or a regional perspective."
All Afghans had arrived at the consensus that bloodshed should end and lasting peace should prevail to make country prosperous and flourishing. His team would forge close understanding between the mosque and the presidency for the sake of unity, he said.
