KABUL (PAN): President Hamid Karzai introduced Eng. Abdul Qadoos Hamidi as his nominee for the portfolio of communications and information technology to the Wolesi Jirga for a vote of confidence on Sunday. Head of administrative affairs at the Presidential Palace, Abdul Ghafar Faizi Zadran, told Pajhwok Afghan News Hamidi was nominated for the slot a day after Second Vice-President Karim Khalili introduced 16 new cabinet ministers to the lower house. On Saturday, Khalili told lawmakers that ministers of communications and water and power would be named soon. In Karzai's previous list, Amirzai Sangin was nominated as communications minister, but he failed to get the trust vote. frm/ma/mud
