Rassoul to improve security environment

 
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Presidential contender Dr. Zalmai Rassoul on Sunday pledged bolstering security across the country and increasing power-generating capacity of the Kajaki dam in southern Helmand province.
Addressing a campaign rallies here, he said: “After stepping up security, increasing the capacity of Kajaki power dam will be my second priority. Electricity from the dam will be supplied to other provinces.”
Thousands of people announced support to Rassoul in the April 5 elections. Abdul Qayyum Karzai and Mehmood Karzai, brothers of the incumbent president, accompanied him on the visit.
Rassoul said if he won the vote, the agriculture sector of the province would be developed and education promoted in the country.
His choice for first-vice president Ahmad Zia Masood said bolstered security, supremacy of law and development of the agriculture sectors were among his team’s priorities.
Qayyum Karzai said Rasoul had the ability to put the country on the road to durable progress, prosperity and development. He urged Helmand residents to vote for Rassoul.
Helmand lawmaker Mullah Sher Mohammad also spoke on the occasion and urged people to support the ex-foreign minister in the elections.
