TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Leading presidential runner Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai during a gathering of his supporters in northeastern Takhar province promised development of district governance and construction of water dams.
Attended by thousands of residents, the first and second vice-presidents of Ahmadzai also spoke on the occasion. Ahmadzai told the gathering he would allocate 40 percent of national budget to provinces and most of the problems being faced by the people in Takhar would be resolved.
He promised creating job opportunities, appointing committed and educated professionals on key government positions and developing Kokcha power dam would be among his top priorities.
“I appreciate your warm welcome but I will be more grateful to you if your cast vote in favour of your trusted candidate,” Ahmadzai told the gathering.
His first vice-president, Gen. Abdur Rashid Dostum welcomed the gathering and urged his supporters to take active part in the April 5 elections. “I had many friends from Takhar fighting for their country who had lost their lives. We will never forget their sacrifices and support,” Dostum added.
His second vice-president, Sarwar Danish, said one of their primary goals was to fight against corruption and narcotics and they would not sit idle until they eliminated the scourge from the Afghan society.
