Responding to a question, the spokesman said the claims of widespread rigging amounted to speculation and the Independent Election Commission (IEC) should be given time to evaluate the allegations.
Hamidzada added: "We Afghans have individual responsibilities to defend our rights. If we uncritically accept the claims of some local and foreign media outlets, I think, we would be disloyal to sacrifices of Afghans and the IEC."
He believed claims of fraud in elections were just natural in every country in the world, but there were organisations and institutions to investigate such allegations.
If there were really irregularities in the recent polls, the official argued, there were also relevant commissions which would investigate them and the outcome would be announced after a thorough probe.
He said the results of the elections would be based on the votes cast by Afghans and their mandate should be respected by all concerned.
