ASADABAD (PAN): Journalists in the eastern province of Kunar on Wednesday strongly condemned the killing of Afghan journalist Janullah Hashimzada.

Unidentified gunmen killed Hashimzada in Jamrud tehsil of the lawless Khyber tribal region near the Afghanistan border on August 24.

At a protest demonstration here, media men asked Pakistani authorities to arrest the killers and award them severe punishment.

Roohullah Anwari of Voice of Liberty told Pajhwok Afghan News Hashimzada was working hard to get Afghan refugees their rights in Peshawar.

He urged the Pakistani government to arrest the murderers. The protesters through a resolution expressed deep sorrows and grief over the death of Hashimzada.

The resolution said journalists would not remain silent on the killing of their colleague and would continue to protest for the arrest of the killers. Pakistani journalists were urged to put pressure on their government to arrest the murderers.
