KABUL (PAN): Thousands of people gathered at the Ghazni Stadium here on Monday voiced support to presidential candidate Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, a key challenger to Hamid Karzai in the presidential elections scheduled for Thursday.


Abdullah urged the participants to vote for him.


He told the gathering, if elected, he would make the top posts elective.


The participants were chanting slogans against other candidates.


Abdullah also lashed out at the debate aired live by the state-controlled electronic media and Radio Liberty on Sunday, saying it 90 percent benefited Karzai,


However, he did not elaborate.


According to the host of the debate, head of the Radio Libratory Akbar Ayazi, Abdullah was also invited to join the event, but he did no come.


A participant of the gathering, Aimal, said Abdullah was the person who can bring peace and stability to the country and fulfill their wishes.


At the start of the gathering, posters and leaflets of Dr. Abdullah were air-dropped from a helicopter over the stadium. The incident led to arrests of the pilots and others involved.
