Life attempt on Baghlan governor foiled

PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): A suicide bomber trying to attack the governor of northern Baghlan province was detained by intelligence personnel on Saturday, the spy service said.
In a statement, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said the bomber was arrested at 3:05pm in the Zaman Khan area on the outskirts of Pul-i-Khumri, the provincial capital.
Hailing from eastern Nangarhar province, the detainee has confessed to receiving training in neighboring Pakistan. He was directed to target the governor, the statement added.
Two other individuals charged with guiding the detainee had also been detained, the intelligence agency recalled.
Sultan Mohammad Abadi was appointed as governor eight months ago. Several deadly attacks have claimed many lives in the province in recent years.
