KABUL (PAN): Women from the central province of Logar were trained on election procedures, rights and responsibilities at a one-day training arranged by the Women Affairs Department in Pul-i-Alam.

"We focused on all parts and phases of the election procedures and electoral law. Especially, we have been discussing values and importance of participation in the elections and importance of selecting the right person who will lead our country," the women affairs director said.

"I think the elections will play key role in the future of Afghanistan," Najeeba Sayed was quoted as saying in a press release issued by the Czech Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) based in Logar.

As part of its support for women's rights, the PRT helped arrange the event. Two female trainers and provincial officials were among the speakers.

Mrs. Najeeba said the training was very successful, and most of the participants evinced a keen interest in some kind of a follow-up.
