KABUL (PAN): An election campaigner for President Hamid Karzai along with his supporters has joined the camp of another hopeful Dr. Abdullah Abdullah in the presidential race.
Ahmad Khan, a member of parliament, announced joining Abdullah's camp at a gathering in Aibak city, provincial capital of Samangan, also attended Abdullah.
Dr. Abdulllah in his address to the rally -- attended by about 6000 people -- said Karzai was unaware of the problems of Samangan residents as he did nothing for them over the past seven years.
"Lack of drinking and irrigation water is the key issue facing this province and I will resolve it, if elected," vowed Abdullah. He also promised to develop Samangan.
Ahmad Khan announced his support to Dr. Abdullah at the gathering. "Karzai attaches no importance to the demands and problems of Samangan people."
He alleged hundreds of residents of the province protested against the sitting governor and asked Karzai to remove him, but the president paid no heed to their calls.
