Insurgents abduct 20 civilians in Ghazni

GHAZNI CITY (PAN): Officials on Friday accused the Taliban of seizing 20 people from vehicles in the Malistan district of southern Ghazni province.
Three days ago, the fighters abducted 20 civilians in Jaghori and Gilan districts, but later they freed four of them while the fate of 16 others remains unknown.
Jaghori district, Zafar Sharif, told Pajhwok Afghan News the rebels wanted to hijack the people’s vehicles and motorcycles. The fighters did not return the vehicles and motorbikes but freed their occupants, he added.
With assistance from tribal elders, the authorities were trying to find the captives, hailing from Jaghori and Malistan districts, the official said.
A resident of Jaghori, Ali Raza, said the insurgents stopped vehicles and searched passengers in broad daylight, But a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said he was unaware of such searches.
