KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Compliants Commission (IECC) on Thursday issued warnings to electoral teams led by President Ashraf Ghani and CEO Abdullah Abdullah over violating election campaign rules.
The State Maker team is led by incumbent President Ashraf Ghani and the Stability and Consolidation team is led Abdullah. IECC urged them to follow the prescribed rules and regulations.
Mohammad Qasim Elyasi, IECC secretary and spokesman, told reporters here that violation of campaign rules had been witnessed in the gatherings of some election teams.
He said no candidates during election campaigns could use the titles such as Prime Minister, President, Deputy President and others because it was against the rules.
He said the IECC decided to issue warnings to the State Maker and Stability and Consolidation teams in line with article 30, clause first, of the election law.
Earlier, election watchdogs raised concerns over the presence of government officials in campaign gatherings of election candidates.
Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani took part in an election gathering of the Stability and Consolidation team.
Presidential Spokesman Shah Hussain Murtazavi also wrote about the daily engagement of Chief Executive Officer Abdullah on his social media page.
