Key Taliban figure among 3 dead in Helmand drone strike

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok):  Three Taliban insurgents, including a leading commander Abdul Rauf Khadim, were killed and some others wounded in a US drone strike in southern Helmand province on Monday, an official said.
The unmanned aircraft fired missile at a vehicle in the Azan locality of Kajaki district, Deputy Governor Mohammad Jan Rasool Yar told Pajhwok Afghan News.
“The missile targeted a car, which left three rebels dead, including the dreaded militants' commander Khadim, and some others wounded” he said.
But a source close to Taliban wishing anonymity said that commander Kadim and four others had been killed in the attack.
A tribal elder Haji Shah Wali confirmed the airstrike but he had no figure about casualties. Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
Mula Khadim served as commander of militants’ military corps in Herat and Kabul during Taliban regime. Some months ago, he split from mainstream Taliban and joined the Islamic State.
