KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Security forces have surrounded a house in Kandahar City where at least seven suicide bombers are believed to be holed up, an official said on Saturday.
Dawa Khan Minapal, the governor’s acting spokesman, said the suicide attackers entered the house in the third police district at 11am and the area has been cordoned off by security forces.
He said the men inside were equipped with heavy and light weapons and they had so far fired three rockets and a hand grenade on security forces, injuring a policeman.
In Kabul, armed men loyal to two lawmakers exchanged fire in the Pul-i-Charkhi locality, leaving two persons wounded, a resident of the area said.
Lajaward Karokhel said the gun-battle erupted between bodyguards of Mullah Tarakhel and Allah Gul Mujahid at 4pm on Saturday. He said two vehicles were damaged by bullet shots.
Mujahid said two his men were observing a polling site in the area when came under fire from Tarakhel’s guards.
