KABUL (Pajhwok): Some Meshrano Jirga members on Tuesday expressed their deep concern over the increasingly deteriorating security situation in the country and feared the current system might be derailed if the tide of insecurity was not reversed.
Taking part in a debate on the country’s security situation, the senators noticed there had been no improvement in the law and order situation of the country.
Gul Ahmad Rassouli, a lawmaker from northern Faryab province, said the government was taking no concrete steps for the improvement of security.
He urged elaborate and strict measures and tough decisions by the authorities concerned to stop the ongoing bloodshed in the country.
He questioned the National Security Council (NSC) and the Presidential Palace to explain for how long the current uncertainty would last? Rasouli demanded the answer.
Zalmai Zabuli, a lawmaker from southern Zabul province, said: “We should ask the two doctors (President Ghani and CEO Abdullah) who are leading the incumbent government that why the war is not going to end in Afghanistan?”
Nothing could be achieved with verbal complaints and debates in the house, Zabuli said and warned if the situation remained the same for one or two years, the government would fall and the current system could not be reorganised.
Mohammad Alam Ezedyar, Senate deputy chairman, said there were no replacements to Ghani and Abdullah. He said: “We requested three times meeting with both the leaders, but officials at the Presidential Palace and Chief Executive Office did not reply to our requests.”
He agreed with lawmakers that their concerns about the security situation were real and urged the government to take steps in this regard on emergency footing.
The deputy chairman stressed on the need for enhanced coordination and interaction between government institutions and warned that current behavior of the government leaders would harm the system.
