Helmandis take to streets against graft, insecurity

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Hundreds of enraged protesters took to the streets in southern Helmand province on Tuesday against rampant administrative corruption and insecurity.
The rally was headed by former hihadi commanders and tribal elders, who asked the national unity government to the improve law and order situation and counter graft.
Former governor Amir Hafizullah Khan Haqyar told Pajhwok Afghan News that the government should task honest and God-fearing individuals with combating corruption.
“Receiving giving bribes should be banned in government offices. The authorities should work out a plan by taking locals into confidence to ensure security in the province,” he demanded.
