KABUL (Pajhwok): Provincial Council (PC) members in Nangarhar, Zabul and Sar-i-Pul provinces on Monday elected their senatorial representatives.

Nangarhar Independent Election Commission (IEC) chief Khwaja said two PC members Lutfullah Baba and Lal Mohammad Durrani were in the run for the Meshrano Jirga seat. Baba won the elections securing 12 votes.

After his reelection, Baba said he would work hard compared to his previous term as senator to resolve people’s problems.

In southern Zabul province, PC members voted to elect their senatorial representative.

Dr. Zalmai Zabuli was able to find his way to the upper house after securing the most votes, said provincial IEC chief Mohammad Hashim Durrani.

Two PC members Mohammad Azim Qoyash and Masumi ran for the Senate seat in northern Sar-i-Pul province, with Qoyash emerging the winner with 12 votes.
