Sher rejects idea of national unity govt

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Wafaq-i-Milli Party on Monday rejected the idea of a national unity government, alleging both election teams were comprised of corrupt and unqualified people.
Addressing a press conference in Kabul, the party chief Bismillah Sher, said that people responsible for the current crisis in the county were members of the two teams.
He claimed traitors and corrupt individuals were sitting around the presidential candidates. Honest and faithful people should be given a chance to serve the country, he stressed.
Sher said his party was vehemently opposed to the proposal of the unity government unless the candidates expelled traitors, killers and corrupt individuals from their teams.
But Tahir Zahir, deputy spokesman for Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, spurned the allegation as an irresponsible statement that could harm the national interest.
He said the formation of the unity government was the demand of the people and the need of the hour.
Syed Hussain Aqa Sanchar, speaking on behalf of Dr. Abdullah, also dismissed Sher’s allegation. He said the Wafaq-i-Milli chief’s statement was reflective of the Presidential Palace agenda.
