Ballot boxes attacked in Balkh

 
MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Two gunmen on Sunday attacked a warehouse where ballot boxes had been placed in the capital of northern Balkh province, but the incident caused no damage, officials said.
The incident took place at around 11:00am, when ballot boxes were brought from districts to a storage facility in Mazar-i-Sharif. Two armed men opened fire from a nearby building when the Balkh election commission head, Ezatullah Arman, was speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News.  
Soon after the incident, security forces reached the site, arresting one of the gunmen but his accomplices fled. The enemies of peace and stability striving to sabotage the process, Arman added after the attack.
He said local saboteurs might be involved in the attack in a bid to torch or capture the ballot boxes.
