10 complaints lodged against candidates: IECC

KABUL (PAN): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) on Friday said it had so far received 10 complaints against candidates for next year’s elections.
IECC member and spokesman Nadir Muhseni said the complaints were received from various parts of the country, but stopped short of giving further details.
He said if the documents proved that some candidates did not suit conditions for candidacy, their names would be removed from the list. The IECC would receive complaints against candidates for another week.
According to Independent Election Commission (IEC), 27 individuals have filed nomination papers for contesting the presidential elections and 2,370 others have been registered as candidates for the provincial council polls, both slated for April 5.
The IEC is expected to announce a preliminary list of approved candidates on Oct. 19 before handing their documents over to the IECC for vetting.
The IECC would announce the final list of candidates on November 16 after completing the vetting process.
