Khost an emerging commercial hub: Farahi

KABUL (PAN): Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) Abdul Khaliq Farahi on Saturday called southeastern Khost province an emerging commercial hub of Afghanistan.
Addressing a daylong conference in Kabul, he said Khost was ranked a 3rd grade province, but it had the status of a 1st grade province, given its revenue-generating potential.
Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Wais Ahmad Barmak, Minister of Agriculture Mohammad Asif Rahimi, several deputy ministers and public representatives from the province attended Khost Development Conference.
A statement from IDLG said the event enabled participants to discuss the challenges facing Khost with officials from relevant ministries and organisations.
Representatives from the ministries concerned pledged to help implement the Khost Development Plan and cooperate with reconstruction and development efforts in the province.
