KABUL (PAN): Wolesi Jirga Member Allah Gul Mujahid on Thursday rejected police allegations, saying if the charges were substantiated against him, he would step down.
The Kabul crime branch chief on Tuesday accused Mujahid of seizing government land, involvement in murder, robberies and kidnappings. He asked the government and the lower house to issue arrest orders for Mujahid.
But Mujahid poured scorn on Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zahir’s claim. The MP told a press conference he was ready to respond to the allegations at the Attorney General Office (AGO) in the presence of media representatives.
He sought damages from the police official for defaming him and supporting land mafia. The lawmaker also asked the president and the Wolesi Jirga to investigate the accusations and fire security official if the charges were proven wrong.
“The security personnel killed nine civilians, but when I asked as a public representative for investigations, they hatched this conspiracy against me,” the legislator argued.
