Jamiat-i-Islami to take part in elections

KABUL (PAN): Acting head of Jamiat-i-Islami Salahuddin Rabbani on Saturday said his party would actively participate in next year’s presidential elections - the best way to bring about change and reform.
He was speaking at an event marking the second death anniversary of Gen. Daud Daud, former commander of the 303rd Pamir Military Corps, and Shah Jehan Noori, the Takhar police chief, who were killed in a suicide attack in Taloqan.
Rabbani asked all Afghans, specially his supporters, to get voter cards to ensure their participation in the presidential ballot. His party always chose peace over war, but the conflict had been imposed on the nation, he added.
“If our enemies continue to kill us despite the fact that we have accepted their demands without any preconditions, we should acknowledge our misjudgment,” he said, criticising the government’s failure to investigate serial killings.
