In a statement on Sunday, IEC said it had already announced results of provincial council elections for other provinces, but the Nangarhar outcome was withheld following complaints of rigging from candidates. The IEC appointed a delegation to recount the votes.
The statement said the recount process started on November 9 was completed on the 16th of the previous month. Ten teams were involved in the process, assisted by two representatives of each candidate and three supervisors, the statement added.
After the count was completed, the results were sent to the IEC main office in
