KABUL (PAN): Security forces surrounded two suicide attackers holed up inside a building in front of the police headquarters in Kabul, killing one as the second blew himself up, officials said on Thursday.


The incident happened in the 8th Police District where two suicide attackers wanted to carry out attacks in the city, but police foiled their bid, said Col. Abdul Rauf Uruzgani.


When reporters tried to take photos of the suicide attackers, police snatched their cameras.


Three Taliban fighters were killed and four civilians injured in separate incidents of violence in the northern Kunduz province on Thursday.


Governor's spokesman, Mehboobullah Syedi said two Taliban were killed in a clash in Imam Sahib district and a third in Dasht-i-Archi. The insurgents wanted to attack polling centres, he added.


Meanwhile, four rockets were fired into Khwaja Mashhad area of Kunduz City, injuring four people including two children, the spokesman said. He added the injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital.


Two rockets were found and defused by officials of the National Directorate of Security in Namak Aab district of Takhar province.


An official said a mine was found near a polling centre in the city. In Shindand district of western Herat province, a sound bomb went off in Jangle area, residents said.
