A spokesman for the governor, Hameedullah Zhwok, told Pajhwok Afghan News nine Taliban fighters were killed and two others detained in a clash with security forces in Sarrawzah district. One Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier was also killed and another injured in the clash.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said their fighters killed more than a dozen ANA soldiers and policemen and destroyed their four vehicles in the gun-battle.

Meanwhile, two civilians were killed in two separate explosions in Sedu Kala area of Mata Khan District and Sala village of Sharan city.

Zhwok denied the incidents, but the victims families verified.
