KABUL (PAN): Senior government officials Tuesday urged the masses to go to polling stations and cast their votes without any fear, as stringent security arrangements would be in place on Election Day.

Spokesmen for President Hamid Karzai, Foreign, Interior and Defence Ministries and National Directorate of Security (NDS) told a joint news conference foolproof security would be ensure on Thursday.

Humayun Hameedzada, Mohammad Zahir Faqiri, Zmaray Bashari, Gen Zahir Azimi and Saeed Ansari repeatedly asked the people not to worry about the security situation on Election Day and exercise their franchise for the sake of the country’s future.

Strongly denouncing Tuesday’s suicide bombing and rocket attack in Kabul, they said the enemies of the country wanted to create panic among the residents and thus keep them away from voting.

The terrorists would not be able to succeed in their nefarious designs, they assured, saying the security personnel were ready to cope with all possible eventualities.
