SHABARGHAN (PAN): A roadside bomb hit an election convoy of President Hamid Karzai wounding two policemen on Sunday night in the northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Monday.
The blast hit a police vehicle escorting the campaign convoy of President Hamid Karzai, who is seeking his reelection in the presidential elections slated for Thursday, in Mangjak district, a spokesman for the Governor, Mehboobullah Zareh, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He added the incident happened on the Aqcha-Mangjak Highway on Sunday night.
Haji Baz Mohammad, campaign manager for Karzai in the province, said the police were escorting the convoy. He added no one among the campaigners was hurt in the blast.
No one has so far asserted responsibility for the blast, but the Taliban operating in Mangjak, Qush Tepah and Darz Aab areas have warned the people against participation in the election, otherwise they would face wrath of the Taliban.
