KABUL (PAN): A spokesman of President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday said elaborate security arrangements have been made for holding the August 20 presidential and provincial council elections in a peaceful manner.

Humayun Hamidzada told a press conference here that 6500 polling centers had been established across the country.

Out of these centres, he added, 94 polling stations have some security problems and efforts were underway to ensure their security on the voting day.

Hamidzada said the security forces were capable to deal with any untoward situation and maintain the security of the polling station during the elections.

The presidential and provincial council elections are due on August 20.
