HERAT CITY (PAN): A bomb went off in a campaign office of the incumbent Hamid Karzai, seeking reelection in the August 20 polls, in the western Herat province on Wednesday amid surge in attacks on election campaigners and offices in the country heading to the second historic ballot.

A campaign manager of Hamid Karzai in western zone, Ahmad Waheed Tahiri, told Pajhwok Afghan News the bomb was fixed in the campaign office of Karzai in Guzrah district which went off last night, destroying the office building partially.

He added no one was hurt in the explosion. The explosion in Karzai campaign office was a second such attack as last night a campaign office of another presidential candidate, Dr. Abdullah was blown up with explosives in Urgon district of southeastern Paktika province.
