New appointments in Balkh, Nangarhar despite ban

MAZAR-I-SHARF, JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Despite an absolute ban imposed by the President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai on hiring and firing in government institutions, officials in northern Balkh and eastern Nangarhaar provinces have made new appointments, Pajhwok learnt on Sunday.

Munir Farhad, spokesman for the governor of Balkh, told Pajhwok Afghan News (PAN) new women affairs’ director has been appointed in the province.

Rabia Muradi, the former director for women affairs told (PAN) she was in the capital Kabul for an official workshop when informed about her replacement. Farhad, however, claimed that the appointment was made in accordance to the rules.

Meanwhile, in eastern Nangarhaar province, a new environmental affairs’ director has been appointed. Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, spokesman for the provincial governor, told (PAN) that this appointment was approved by the former president during his last days in office.
