150 complaints registered in Balkh

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok):  Ballot boxes and other electoral materials from all polling stations have reached the capital of northern Balkh province, an official said on Monday.
The counting of votes came to an end at 2am last night in Balkh, where so far 150 complaints have been lodged, said Izzatullah Arman, the provincial Independent Election Commission (IEC) chief.
He praised security forces for the safe and sound delivery of electoral materials back to the provincial IEC warehouses from across Balkh.
Arman said they were yet to count complaints registered with them against irregularities in the elections, but the number could be around 150. He said more complaints were expected to come.
Some of the complaints received on the telephone alleged interference in the elections by powerful individuals and some local police members.
