والي: په تېرو ١٤ کلونو کې بادغيس ته هېڅ پاملرنه نه ده شوې

QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): The new governor on Wednesday said the central government had ignored northwestern Badghis province with regard to reconstruction and development activities over the past 14 years.
Talking to Pajhwok Afghan News during an interview, Dr. Jamaluddin Ishaq said local officials had also failed to execute projects under an organised plan.
He said the public health sector was in a shambles, most of schools were without buildings and roads leading districts had not been blacktopped and some projects had been left incomplete.
About his priorities, the governor said they were improving security, the transfer of electricity from neighbouring Turkmenistan, gravelling of the ring road and the implementation of a clean drinking water scheme in Qala-i-Naw, the provincial capital.
He planned to carry out search operations in insecure parts of the province, but said prior to the operations, it was essential to consult local elders and increase coordination among security forces.
“Powerful individuals are currently in control of pistachio forests and they earn millions of afghanis each year. We will try to free the forests from the clutches of the powerful and plant more seedlings of pistachio in order to boost the province income,” the governor said.
Ishaq said he had discussed the transfer of electricity from Turkmenistan with President Ashraf Ghani who had assured him needed support.
He said the electricity project would turn Badghis into an industrial zone and as a result, people’s economy would improve.
The governor said a strong local governance needed people’s support and fortunately the people of Badghis fully the supported the government.
