VOTER VOICES & DEMANDS

The people of Bamyan consider the rehabilitation program inconstant, demanding the authorities to accelerate work on projects to complete them without further delay.
The people of the province demanded the elimination of unemployment, support for education, respect for women rights and creation of more opportunities for higher education inside and outside the country.

Voters in the eastern province of Nuristan said they see no change in their lives in the past years.
They say no attention has been paid to their province, but they are participating in the election to bring change in the future.
The mountainous province with seven districts shares a border with Pakistan.
The economy of Nuristan is based on agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry.
The report below was prepared on the basis of interviews with eight people, two of them women, from the provincial capital and five districts last week.
 

Paroon (PAN): Residents of Nuristan complain multiple challenges including lawlessness, absence of schools buildings, health clinics and basic necessities of life.
Nabiullah Rashidi, resident of Doaab district of Nuristan told Pajhwok Afghan News that the main problem haunting the residents was insecurity.
The province has zero security but the concerned officials did not pay any attention to improve the law and order, he said, adding that owing to chaos government employees could not even move to their officers and the staff was confined to governor’s office.

Paroon (PAN): People of the restive Nuristan demanded the government should take stringent measures to improve deteriorated security and flush out insurgents from parts of the province.
People demand creation of more job opportunities, implementation of rehabilitation projects, construction of roads and equal opportunities of higher education both for male and female.

The people of Laghman are ready to participate in the elections but they are fed up with the insecurity in the province.
The province, consisting of four districts, is located some 140 kilometres east of Kabul. Majority of the people there are farmers. The report is prepared on the basis of interviews with eight people from three districts and the provincial capital. Two of the interviewees are girls.

Laghman (PAN): People of Laghman province said widespread joblessness and rampant insecurity are among serious problems being faced by the residents. 
Hailing from Dawlat Shah district of the province, Farhad told Pajhwok Afghan News the most serious problem after insecurity is joblessness, which led people to more problems. 
“Most of the youth of my district are jobless. Our unemployed people go to Iran for work where they are killed on their way,” he added.        

Mehtar Lam (PAN): People of Laghman demand early completion of electricity and road projects, urging the government to help them promote their agriculture sector.
During the last decade, a number of rehabilitation projects were launched with special reference projects are implemented by the National Solidarity Program (NSP). The province is provided with four megawatts electricity but people want more facilities to reverse the tide of growing insecurity.

Mahmud-i-Raq (PAN): People of volatile Kapisa complain of economic woes, joblessness, administrative corruption and weak writ of the government.
They said a matter of concern for the people is that they confront unavailability of electricity. The sinking quality of education, absence of a proper market for agriculture products, shortage of irrigation water and a host of other problems paralyzed the lives of the people.

Mahmud-i-Raqi (PAN): The people of Kapisa demand the government to take stringent measures to restore order and launch offensive against anti-state elements to purge the area of miscreants.
People want their government to deliver efficiently in every sector of life but their main demand from the authorities is bolstered security and creation of job opportunities.  
Yahya Rahi, a professor at Al Bairuni University and resident of Kapisa capital said the government should prioritize to tighten security.
