TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Dossiers detailing corruption and other charges against six government officials and a contractor were produced before a court in central Uruzgan province on Wednesday, an official said.
Prosecutor Fazl Sultan Safi told Pajhwok Afghan News the charges had been framed against Education Director Ihsanullah Nasher Rural Development Director Eng. Mohammad Hashim, former Dehrawud mayor Abdul Manan, three other officials and a contractor.

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): One month after election results were announced, the provincial council of central Uruzgan has so far been unable to elect its administration board.

Ten days after being sworn in, the new council chose a member as their senatorial candidate, but the nominee was rejected by the provincial Independent Election Commission (IEC), citing problems in his documents.

The elected Senate representative was Mohammad Zahir Naderi, who had collected five votes from the nine-member council.

TARINKOT (Pajhwok): The residents of central Uruzgan province cast ballot in the second round of presidential election on June 14 in a tension-free and peaceful environment.

Most of the voters said they had fewer problems on voting day as compared to the April 5 presidential and provincial council polls.

Governor Amanullah Taimori told Pajhwok Afghan News security was put on high alert throughout the polling stations and people streamed to polling stations without any sense of fear.

 
SHARANA/TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Civil society activists and election officials in southeastern Paktika and central Uruzgan provinces on Saturday urged the masses to turn out in great numbers and cast their votes in the second round of presidential elections.
The call came at a gathering organised by civil society activists in Sharan, the capital of southeastern Paktika province. The activists promised they would closely monitor the voting process throughout Paktika to prevent irregularities.
