CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Hundreds of people on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration in the capital of central Parwan province against a recent Wolesi Jirga decision.
On Wednesday, the lower house rejected a clause of the law on provincial councils, barring the elected bodies from overseeing the performance of local departments.
The decision sparked protests by PC members in various provinces, with some closing down their offices.

CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Illegal armed men have shot dead five members of a family in the Bagram district of central Parwan province, the district police chief said on Friday.
Mohammad Masoom Farzah told Pajhwok Afghan News the shooting occurred in the Qarcha locality of the district on Thursday night. The gunmen escaped after the attack.
“A man, his wife, a son and two daughters were killed mercilessly,” Farzah said, adding the hapless family was massacred after it refused to give their daughter in marriage to a man.

CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Supporters of a losing candidate have blocked a busy highway in central Parwan province over the past three days, creating numerous problems for travellers.

Asmatullah’s backers are not allowing vehicular movement on the Ghorband-Bamyan highway in Siahgird district. The road connects the capital of Parwan, Charikar, with central Bamyan and northern provinces via Surkh Parsa and Sheikh Ali districts.

CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): The governor of central Parwan province on Tuesday claimed some elements in both the presidential campaigns were trying to fuel differences between the two sides.

Abdul Basir Salangi was addressing a gathering of about 300 people marking the third death anniversary of former president Burhanuddin Rabbani in Charikar, the provincial capital.

Salangi paid rich tributes to Rabbani, saying the great jihadi leader had made untiring efforts to achieve peace in Afghanistan.
