SHARAN (Pajhwok): Local officials in southeastern Paktika province said on Wednesday they were fully ready if the election headed for the second round.
In an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, Paktika police chief, Maj. Gen. Nabi Jan Mulakhel, said the April, 5 presidential and provincial council polls were held in a peaceful environment in Paktika, with all polling centres opened.  
Afghan forces played leading role to ensure security on Election Day, but the role of Afghan Local Police (ALP) was of great importance and commendable, he added.  

 
SHARAN (Pajhwok): At least ballots of 183 polling centres had been quarantined in southeastern Paktika province, election officials said on Tuesday.
Abdul Majid Malang, the Independent Electoral Complaint Commission (IECC) commissioner in Paktika, said 50 of the voting centres were located in Orgun and the rests in other districts.
In his chat with Pajhwok Afghan News, he added: “Each voting centre comprises six ballot boxes and 1,098 ballot boxes of the polling centres have been quarantined. Bogus and valid votes will be separated.”

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): The election watchdog on Saturday said it would be unable to review complaints about electoral fraud in southeastern Paktia province due to a lack of cooperation from the Independent Election Commission (IEC).

 
SHARANA (Pajhwok): The women’s affairs director has been fined 35,000 afghanis by Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) officials for using a fake card to monitor the April 5 elections in southeastern Paktika province, an official said on Saturday.
Bibi Hawa, the provincial Women’s Affairs Department head, had served as an election observer during last Saturday’s presidential and provincial council polls by using a fake observer card, IECC head in Paktika, Abdul Majid Malang, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
