4 campaigners of a candidate killed in Paktia

 
GARDEZ (PAN): Around 70 voter registration centres have been closed due to insecurity in several of districts of southern Paktia province, an official said on Sunday.

 
GARDEZ (PAN): Five insurgents were killed in a clash and four policemen wounded in a bomb explosion in southeastern Paktia province on Monday, officials said.
A patrol vehicle struck roadside bomb in Gardez at 10.30am, injuring four policemen, the provincial police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News. Brig. Gen. Zalmai Oryakhel said one of the injured policemen was in critical condition.

Pakita is located in southeast of the capital Kabul, which has 14 administrative units including the provincial capital. Provincial council of the province has nine members, including two women.
 
The report contains view of people from different parts of the province. The people expressed mixed reaction with regard of the country future with special reference the upcoming presidential ballots, peace process and the looming process of foreign forces withdrawal from the country.
 

GARDIZ (PAN): Paktia residents are of the opinion that solution of problems including forests rehabilitation, dams’ construction, electricity, joblessness and security tend to bolster their living standard.
Khaista Jan Ahadi, Paktia provincial council head said electricity provision was extremely important, adding the government should adopt measure to ensure power supply without further delay. Few years back following presidential decree, the electricity from Tajikistan should have been given to Paktia but the ministry failed to ensure its supply, he remarked.

GARDIZ (PAN): The people of the volatile Paktia demanded the government to ensure provision of electricity, construct dams, rehabilitate forests and with special reference enhanced the direly needed security in the province.
They said bolstered security was prerequisite to multiply business activities and create more job opportunities for the jobless youth of the province. Another long standing demand of the residents is that they want their province to be developed at par with other provinces.

GARDIZ (PAN): The residents of Paktia noticed considerable improvement in the overall security situation but expressed their concern over the roadside bombing blats and mid-night military raids elsewhere in the province.
Some districts of the province such as Zurmat, Shawak, Gardah Seria, Wazi Zadran are among the insecure areas where militants of Haqani network in Janikhel, Malvi Mansoor group in Zadran, and Hizb-e-Islami in Zazi districts have sanctuaries from where they stage attacks in various parts of the country.

GARDIZ (PAN):  Provincial officials said hundreds of large and small scale rehabilitation projects were implemented in Paktia province but residents expressed concern by saying that much more was needed to be done to develop the province.
Sources said there were no large scale projects, however, work on the Machlgho dam, Khost-Gardiz Road and other projects of public welfare were underway.

GARDIZ (PAN): Authorities in Paktia said the vital education sector was moving ahead with tandem but the province was facing lack of schools and educational institutions.
Eng. Mehrabuddin Shaffaq, director provincial education department said education progressed very well with enrollment of thousands of new students during the past decade, admitting that the sector could not be developed as it was needed.
