JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Custom acting chief of eastern Nuristan province is arrested on corruption charges and his case is referred to Attorney General Office (AGO), an official has said on Sunday.
 Nuristan acting governor Hafez Abdul Qayyum told Pajhwok Afghan News the acting custom revenue director Mohammad Ayub demanded bribe in construction of police station.
“The director custom revenue is on sick leave and has gone abroad for treatment while acting director Mohammad Ayub has been detained red-handed with 100,000 Afghanis which he has taken as a bribe,” he added.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least two provincial council members have never attended the elected body’s sessions in eastern Nuristan province, the acting governor said on Monday.
Hafiz Abdul Qayum told Pajhwok Afghan News the two had been living in Kabul and had never attended the council meetings since their election, while the remaining four members irregularly attended the sessions.
The Nuristan provincial council has nine members. Qayum said the Independent Directorate of Local Government should take notice of the absenteeism and find a permanent solution to the issue.

Nuristan (PAN): The mountainous eastern Nuristan province has large scale reservoirs of natural mines containing precious and semi precious stones.
For the purpose to explore and exploit the underground reserves, the department of mines started functioning right after its establishment in 2013 in Nuristan.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Acting governor of eastern Nuristan province alleged that foreign hands were fuelling tribal feud in the province for their vested interests.
Hafiz Abdul Qayyum said enmity between two tribes of Kamdish and Kushtooz villages erupted 16 years ago in Kamdish district, which left 400 persons dead and 150 wounded.
Hundreds of families migrated to other areas because of clashes between the two warring tribes, he added.
