KABUL (Pajhwok): Two civilians and 14 rebels were killed and many others wounded in a spate of security incidents on the Election Day in eastern Kunar province, official said on Saturday.
Governor Shujaul Mulk Jalala said this at a joint news conference with police chief, Abdul Hasib Syedkheli, and election commission head, Abdul Zahir Akbari at the end of the voting process.

 
ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Two separate gatherings were held in eastern Kunar province in support of presidential contenders Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayyaf on Saturday.
Hundreds of people in Khas Kunar district pledged support to Abdullah in the elections. Maulvi Shahzada Shahid, Abdullah’s campaign manager, told the participants to cast their votes for Abdullah for the sake of a prosperous Afghanistan.
Abdullah had comprehensive programmes for the development and prosperity of the country, specifically the Kunar province, he added.

 
LASHKARGAH/ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Separate gatherings were held in on support of presidential runners Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, Zalmai Rassoul, Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayyaf and Gul Agha Sherzai in Helmand and Logar provinces on Wednesday.
Hundreds of Helmand residents announced their support to Ahmadzai. The candidate’s campaign leader in the province, Haji Bismillah Rohani, said a majority of residents supported Ahmadzai as next president.

 
ASADABAD (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Friday said it would investigate electoral law violations by government officials attending campaign rallies for presidential candidates.
IEC Secretary Ziaul Haq Amarkhel told reporters in eastern Kunar province some government officials had been found campaigning for specific candidates and the issue would be thoroughly probed before their names being made public.
