MAHMOD RAQI (Pajhwok): Residents of central Kapisa province on Saturday said they would have never taken part in the election process if they had the slightest idea of the dragging deadlock.

Several months after the election was completed, neither the results have been announced so far nor differences between the two candidates removed. As a result, the masses have become skeptical.

Most of the people repented taking part in the elections. Shah Agha, a resident of Kohistan-1 district, said he had voted in the interest of national unity and Afghanistan’s reconstruction.

 
KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission in southeastern Khost province has found no evidence of rigging after recounting 10 percent of votes, officials said on Wednesday.
Khanzada Afghani, the IECC provincial chief, told a press conference that votes cast at eight polling stations had been tallied again accordance with directions from the head office. 
He said only 20 votes cast for Ashraf Ghani, which were unlawfully nullified by polling station staff, had been added to the candidate’s tally.

MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission Director lauded the participation of the people of central Kapisa province during Saturday election runoff.

Noor Mohammad Hanifi said that 78 polling sites have been established in the province; however the Ala Saei district polling station remained closed due to security concerns.

He said strict measures had been taken to avoid rigging and violation during the voting process, the recruitment of fresh observers was a part of this strategy, he added.

 
CHARIKAR, KUNDUZ, MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): Frontrunner Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Saturday pledged he would construct two big hydropower dams in central Kapisa and Panjsher provinces if he won the June 14 runoff ballot.
Abdullah held out the promise during a speech to hundreds of his supporters in Kapisa province in the morning.
Lawmakers, religious scholars, provincial council members and his team members attended the gathering, where the former foreign minister expressed optimism he would win the ballot.

 
MAHMOD RAQI (Pajhwok): At least one hundred Afghan Local Police (ALP) members have been deployed to ensure security for the second round of presidential election in Ala-Sayee district of central Kapisa province, an official said Wednesday.
Khwaja Faqir Ahmad Sadiqui, provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News ALP members belonged to the district who would help maintain security for run-off polls in Ala-Sayee.
He expressed optimism most areas of the district would be cleared of militants with the deployment of ALP members.
