SHIBREGHAN (Pajhwok): A heavily pregnant woman, a policeman’s wife, was gang-raped by five men in northwestern Jawzjan province, an official said on Monday, as the victim threatened to commit suicide.
A relative of the 17-year-old woman told Pajhwok Afghan News she was only a month away from giving birth when five men rapped her last night in Shiberghan, the provincial capital.
She was beaten and her jewelries stolen by the rapists, who tied hands and feet of her father, the relative said, but refused to provide his name.

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have kidnapped four employees of a construction company in northern Jawzjan province, the police chief said Wednesday.  
Br. Gen. Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani said militants stormed two security posts in Qush Tepa district. A local policeman and two militants were killed in the incident. Two other local police and four militants were wounded.
The militants abducted four employees of a road construction company along with their vehicles on Tuesday night, he said.

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): A large number of militants joined the government-initiated peace process following hectic efforts by first-vice-president in northwestern Jawzjan province, an official said Tuesday.

Eighty militants joined the peace drive on Monday in presence of first vice-president Gen. Abdur Rashid Dostum in Darzab district of the province.

Local officials said that 120 more rebels had joined the process in the district on Tuesday.

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): First Vice-President Abdul Rashid Dostum traveled to northern Jawzjan province to assess the security situation closely, officials said on Monday.

Kinja Kargar, deputy head of Junbish-i-Milli Party, told Pajhwok Afghan News the first VP visited Darz-Ab and Qosh-Tapa districts and met with local officials and elders to discuss security challenges.

Earlier, people had raised concerns about presence of illegal armed groups in the districts and demanded action to purge the area of anti-state elements, he added.
