LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Helmand provincial council members and civil society activists on Saturday alleged high government officials were involved in abductions and preventing police from arresting kidnappers.
Farhad Dawari, head of civil society coordination body, told a press conference security forces had arrested several kidnappers in the recent past but some government officials got them freed.

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Helmand provincial council members see personal benefits and negligence of local officials as main hurdles to executing reconstructions projects, an allegation rejected by the authorities as groundless.
Mohammad Karim Atal, head of the council, told Pajhwok Afghan News reconstruction projects in the province had been completely frozen due to the dismal performance of officials of unity government and negligence of local authorities.

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Taliban militants have blocked the main road to the Kajaki district of southern Helmand for the last two months, creating problems for local residents.
Abdul Majid Akhundzada, a member of the provincial council, told Pajhwok Afghan News the security situation had worsened in the district.
He said the Taliban militants had blocked the main road for the last two months, making it problematic for local residents to shift their patients to hospital besides causing severe shortage of food items.

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): As many as 600 internally displaced families in southern Helmand province demanded their registration to get their due share of rights, an official said on Thursday. 
Mohammad Nadar Watanwal, director labor and social affairs, told Pajhwok Afghan News the number of injured and disabled by the conflict had been increased during this year. 
More than 440 disabled persons and 134 bereaved families had registered in last three months alone. The number had increased since the lives of civilians had been completely neglected in the ongoing war, he said.
