KABUL (Pajhwok): The governor of northwestern Badghis province on Tuesday promised concrete steps would be taken to ensure security for the April 5 presidential and provincial elections.
In an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, Ahmadullah Alizai said an effective security plan was being prepared to ensure peaceful conduct of the election.
Government officials would not be allowed to use the state machinery for or against any candidate, he said, adding seven of 44 polling stations in the province were under security.

 
FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Independent Election Commission (IEC) officials on Saturday said 53 of the 227 polling stations in western Farah province faced a high security threat.
IEC regional chief, Mirwais Azizi, told Pajhwok Afghan News the polling stations in Bala Baluk, Gulistan, Bakwa, Khaki Safid and Pusht Rod districts could not be opened.

FARAH CITY (PAN): Residents of Farah province complained of growing insecurity, demanding the government to adopt measures to tighten security and law and order.
However, officials of Farah said security had been improved in the province as compared to the past.
Hamidullah Rehman, secretary of teachers association and a civil society activist told Pajhwok Afghan News security was going deteriorated by each passing day with people did not feel themselves secured even in the capital city.

FARAH CITY (PAN): A large number of rehabilitation projects have been implemented in Farah province but some direly needed projects cannot be implemented, resident said.
Officials said massive development was done in the province during the last decade in Farah including the construction of 112 building for schools, vegetable super market, sport complex, custom building, 3,000 dug-wells, military installations and 4,500 kilometers road.
