MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The provincial council head in northern Balkh province on Thursday said differences within government leaders was a major reason behind spike in graft and insecurity across the country.
Mohammad Ibrahim Khair Andesh, provincial council head, told Pajhwok Afghan News law and order was deteriorating at accelerated pace amid rampant corruption in government departments.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The residents of northern Balkh province on Monday said transparent future elections needed drastic reforms in the electoral bodies.
They were speaking at a consultative gathering with officials of the Electoral Reform Commission in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital.
The gathering was attended by Wolesi Jirga members, provincial council members, university teachers, civil society activists and local residents.

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The provincial council deputy head on Thursday said the Nawzad district fell to the Taliban due to a lack of coordination among security forces in southern Helmand province.
Ibadullah Alizai told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban militants had been attacking the district centre for many days. He warned if security forces did not increase coordination among them, other northern districts would also fall.
He said Taliban militants had grown in strength in Musa Qala and Kajaki districts, posting serious security threats to the two towns.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A Taliban militant’s plan to carry out suicide attack in northern Balkh province with alleged support by former Provincial Council (PC) members has been foiled, several PC members claim on Tuesday.
Mohammad Amin Dara Sufi, head of provincial council, told Pajhwok Afghan News a former PC members who could not win last election had planned a suicidal attack on the provincial council members.
