FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) on Thursday confirmed receiving 65 complaints and said some of them, if found valid, could affect the result.
Regional IEC chief Mohammad Tawfiq Rasikh told Pajhwok Afghan News that 26 of the complaints were registered with the Badakhshan office and 30 by the presidential candidates in Kabul.

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): A 94-year-old man, after casting his vote in northeastern Badakhshan province, said on Saturday he considered franchise as a national responsibility.
Makhdoom Niamatullah reached a polling station at a school in Shahr-i-Kohna area of Faizabad with the help of his grandson to vote. He had also cast his ballot in the April 5 elections.
A large number of people queuing up for their turn offered Makhdoom to come forward and cast his vote.  “Voting is my right and I cast the ballot in favour of Dr. Abdullah,” he said.

 
FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Security forces said election would be held in peaceful environment amid stringent security measures but locals said there were still some problems in some parts of northeastern Badakhshan province.
Badakhshan Police Chief Fazaluddin Ayar told Pajhwok Afghan News security had been beefed up throughout the province and residents could cast their vote in a fear-free environment.
It was a natural phenomenon that militants would try to disrupt the process but forces were all ready to thwart any sabotage attempts by militants, he added.

 
FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Wednesday said it was difficult transferring election materials to some districts of northeastern Badakhshan province without air support from security forces.

Residents of Badakhsan province suffered a shortage of ballot papers.
