KABUL (Pajhwok): Six security officials of central Maidan Wardak province were found demonstrating negligence in the tragic Jalrez incident.
Mohammad Yousuf Pashtoon, the president’s advisor and member of the investigative team, told reporters that Jalrez massacre was not an incident that occurred all in sudden, but it took place because of negligence of security officials of the province.

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): The Provincial Council (PC) of southern Kandahar province has warned of taking strict action against officials involved in corruption.
Kandahar PC head Haji Sayed Khan Khakrizwal told a meeting that a large number of residents complained about rampant corruption in provincial government departments.
However, Khakrizwal did not name any department to be the hub of graft but vowed to initiate strict measures against officers who were in connivance in direct or indirect corruption.

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The government has no specific strategy for strengthening security in southern Helmand province, public representatives and civil society representatives complain.
In the absence of such a plan, insecurity was on the rise in the province, they said at the overnight launch of a movement called “How we can rescue Helmand” in Lashkargah.
Mohammad Karim Atal, head of the movement and the provincial council, noted deterioration of the security environment in recent months in Helmand in general and northern districts in particular.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Four districts of southern Zabul province would fall to the Taliban if additional security forces are not sent, warned the provincial council chief on Saturday.
Ata Jan Haqbayan told Pajhwok Afghan News in an exclusive interview in Kabul that Zabul was one of the provinces that had been without adequate security during the past 13 years.
He said the four districts --- Daichopan, Naw Bahar, Shamulzai and Atghar --- were among the most insecure districts and had been surrounded by insurgents.

QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): “Defensive groups” have been created in consultations with the police headquarters, public representatives and local residents to maintain security in Jawand and Qadis districts of northwestern Badghis province.
Though some military expert say the creation of such militias is not in the interest of the country, the Badghis police headquarters says they are beneficial for strengthening security and the groups are being monitored by the police.

MAIDAN CITY (Pajhwok): Provincial Council (PC) members in central Maidan Wardak province on Thursday discussed at length administrative, judicial and other provincial issues with the governor who pledged to extend all cooperation to resolve problem of the people.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Governor Hayatullah Hayat and other local officials attended the meeting held at the governor house.
PC head Ahmad Jaffari told the meeting that several issues were there at central and district levels which needed immediate solution.
